Pre-Kindergarten Program

Pre–Kindergarteners enter a completely different stage in their development. At this time, Pre–K children have learned a great deal of skills and facts about their world.

Every day our Pre–K program includes an in depth circle time. During this circle time children learn numbers, letters, phonics, sight words, addition, word families, patterns, songs, manners, weather, days of the week, months and a themed lesson. Circle time in preschool last 20 to 30 minutes.

Our Pre–K children show a great amount of self help skills. By this time, each child is dressing themselves, cleaning their own mess and problem solving.

Language and beginning reading is a major part of our Pre–K program. Children are taught letter sounds, word families and sight words. Our Pre–K program enhances each child’s writing skills daily. Children write both words and sentences. Pre–K children also start to simple sight read.

Our Pre–K program also focuses on more advanced math skills. Children begin to count higher and put numbers in order. Our teachers do a great job teaching each child beginning addition and subtraction through teacher directed activities.

Our Pre–K program incorporates science experiments. The children are at a stage now where they can make observations and talk about what they see. They are also about to talk about what is happening before their eyes! Together, children and teachers make observation charts. Our teachers carefully plan out weekly science experiments to enhance their learning and knowledge of the world around them.

Our Pre–K program continues to encourage each child to explore the world around them through art, sensory and construction activities. Children are allowed to use more advanced materials for art and sensory. They are also to the stage where they can do the cutting, gluing, mixing, etc. on their own.
