Toddler 1 Program

Children entering the toddler 1 classroom are starting a new stage in their life. They have just begun to walk and are becoming great explorers. Our Toddler 1 program and curriculum enhances their curiosity. All toys and activities in the classroom are placed there with special thought and care. Our teachers carefully pick each toy based on their children’s likes and dislikes.

Our toddler 1 curriculum focuses on exploration and curiosity. Daily sensory, science and art activities are prepared in a way that not only allows the children to have fun, but learn about the world as do so. Our teachers incorporate every day materials into their art activities that teach children about textures, colors, size and enhance all their senses. Children are given the opportunity to play and explore with salt, paint, sugar, grass, dirt, paper, feathers, felt, syrup and sand (to name a few). Children are also given the opportunity to create masterpieces with glue, paper, tissue paper, crayons, markers, etc. To add extra fun and exploration children paint with their hands and feet! Our children will learn hot versus cold, seasons, animals and plants.

Our toddler 1 curriculum incorporates math skills as well. Children will be taught about numbers and counting. The children will learn about more and less and big versus small. Our teachers will assist the children in making patterns and sorting objects according to similar qualities.

Our toddler 1 children are also starting to communicate in different ways. To help with their social skills our teachers help children say words and express their needs. Our toddlers are taught a weekly sign and our teachers continually use the signs while teaching and talking with the children.

Our toddler 1 program also focuses on teaching each child how to express what they are feeling. Through our communication and language activities, each child will learn about each of the emotions we all experience. Our teachers also help your child learn how to self regulate their emotions. At this stage in a toddler’s life they need love and encouragement. It is our teacher’s main goal to sooth, love and meet the needs of each child.
